In US the automotive giant GM saved 40% of time

According to our parent company GM’s Casting Engine and Transmission Center in Pontiac, Michigan, applies successful ZEISS CMMs (coordinate measuring machines) for a long time already. Recently the experts were looking for a solution to optimize the CMM custom probe tooling for a new development. Experienced in our ZEISS Stylus System Creator, GM reached for a new level of probe tooling by deploying flexible stylus systems and stylus simulations.

The company gathered a group of CMM programmers and engineers in charge of the North American quality inspection labs for their next generation of 4-cylinder V8 engines. Their solution: Fixed machined extensions for more control at the remote inspection labs and interchangeability, robust probe systems that could be used afterwards.
